WW1 1914-1918

Boyle Mens Shed recently met with the Connaught Rangers in King House Boyle to discuss the commemoration of the Irish troops and in particular the Connaught Rangers role in WW1. A diorama depicting 1915 had been built for remembrance day in November 2014 and a decision was made to depict a scene for each year of WW1 involving the Connaught Rangers. The Rangers generously donated 300 euro to aid construction and the fine modelling details and materials required. This promises to be a great collaboration between the Mens Shed the Connaught Rangers association and King House.

There were many young men from Boyle who answered the call to arms to fight for the freedom of Europe in 1914, if you have any history, memorabilia or photographs of this period please contact the Connaught Rangers in King House or the Mens Shed.
